"It isn't easy to earn 5 stars from every single customer, but The Computer Janitor (Rodney) is special. If you decide to use Rodney, you will see exactly why he has a 5 star rating. He is very personable, honest and informative.
My computer crashes and I see his 5 star rating on yelp so I call Rodney at 5:30pm on a Sunday afternoon asking if he can come asap. He says that he is working a job in SF, but can be at my house in 90 minutes and quotes me a reasonable price. He estimates that it will take 3 hours. He backs up everything, but since I had a lot of videos stored on the HD, it actually takes several hours longer than expected. I asked him how much he was going to charge me since it took longer than expected.. He said, "I'm still going to charge you the original amount that I quoted you even though it took longer than I expected."
Wow! I was very surprised because 99% of the people would take advantage of the situation and attempt to raise the price. Randy did not raise the price, but I voluntarily gave him more money as a "Tip". Did I mention that he stayed to complete the job and didn't leave until after 1:00am?
Don't even think about using the Geek Squad... The Computer Janitor has 25 years of experience fixing computers and will do a much better job than the high school kids at Best Buy. "

Hard Drive Replacement
What can I say about Rodney? First of all he is one of the nicest man you ever want to meet. He interacted with my family like we were old friends. We appreciated this because a lot of times when you are getting a repair done the people performing the service are really impersonal and inconsiderate. Rodney is the Polar opposite of this. Like I said before, he is one of the nicest man you ever want to meet.
In terms of the Service, he was stellar. We ran into a hiccup with our recovery disks and Rodney resolved quickly without charging us extra. In the end I believe we received a substantial savings by going him instead of contracting with a larger computer repair operation.
I believe in small businesses and this is definitely one I would use again.

Very happy with Rodney's work!! I was having issues with my PC where i couldn't get it to go much beyond the desktop, then it would flash the blue screen and shut down....very, very frustrating.
Rodney came to my business taking the laptop within him and returned it the very next day in perfect working condition. Since i'm starting a new business, i'm very happy to have found my "go to" guy for computer repair. He was prompt, reliable, affordable and most importantly, fixed the problem very quickly.

Rodney keeps my business running. I have an Autobody Repair Shop in San Ramon ca. We have 4 computers and a server. When any of these don't work I can call Rodney and he will be there soon and fix it. Rodney keeps them all tuned up and running great. When I have problems like my memory card reader is not working and in can not send photos to all the major Insurance Companies, or my hard drive is very slow, Rodney will sort it out right away. What a relief that I have someone that I can count on to keep all 4 computers and my server running.

Last week my computer completely died and would not turn on. I am in the Real Estate Business and most of our work is done through the wonderful world of technology. I panicked as it was Friday afternoon. I called Rodney the Computer Janitor and he stated that he would be able to see me on Sunday. I asked him if something opens up to please call. Sure enough he called me early evening and came over to my home after already working 12 hours that day. I am so grateful he fit me in and fixed my computer that evening. Rodney is very personable and Very good at what he does. If you need help with your computer or anything related give Rodney a call.

Had Rodney out to my office when one of my computers crashed. He came out same day and got us running. He even identified what caused the problem so we could avoid in the future. His price is fair and he knows what he is doing. I highly recommend Rodney. The computer works better than ever and he even fixed our wireless router issue as well. I am very happy with the service he provides and will definitely use him again.

I called Rodney on a Sunday to get some advice and see if he would be able to repair or repair a hardware issue I'm having with my out-of-warranty HP desktop system. I suspect my computer is having issues at the component level on the motherboard. Even though he said he usually doesn't attempt to debug motherboards (it's usually more cost effective to replace them), he gave a few suggestions to debug components like the memory sticks. He even referred me to a local computer repair shop that's more equipped to debug/repair issues at the motherboard level. He seemed very easy-going over the phone and genuinely interested to help.

Rodney has worked on almost all of my computers now. Just when you think you don't need him, he's there like Superman. I ended up with a virus today and Rodney made time in his schedule to come by really quickly and had the problem resolved in no time. On a previous job he recommended that we get an external back up drive so if we had issues like this it would be easier to fix. We listened to his advice, he installed it on one of his previous trips and we are really glad we listened. Now no matter what we do wrong or if our computers simply react to a virus again, we will always have our machine backed up. Thanks for a great job as usual!

Computer Janitor is the best! Rodney Barnes has become my go to IT guy for our laptops and desktop machines (8 total in our small company). Always resourceful, this Computer Janitor is the epitome of a humble and gracious servant. Rodney does not over charge for his time, but instead is always fair and reasonable with his billing.The name, Computer Janitor is apropos because he will do everything from cleaning up messes to maintaining a clean and smooth running machine. Computer Janitor....the name says it all!

My recent experience with Rodney was a breath of fresh air. I was having what I thought were issues retrieving two file directories off a dead laptop. Rodney had some free time the same day I called, which was unexpected and welcome!
He quoted me a flat rate but said if he could not fix the issue, his service call was free.
He spent some time searching for the files in question and was able to find them and ofload them onto an external disk drive for me. In the process, he discovered things not known about the laptop that may have contributed to its death.
I found him to be very personable and extremely knowledgeable. I would use him again in a heartbeat.

I have had Rodney over to my place a number of times, and he has always dazzled me with his depth of knowledge about his subject. He has guided me to many areas where a computer user himself can make sizable changes in performance, and has done some of these himself as well.
As a business owner, my expertise has never been in computers, but I am still held hostage to using them nonetheless. When you can have someone as expert as Rodney at your side, it makes my business go so much smoother!
I highly recommend Rodney Barnes, whatever your computer needs are. Especially if you are a business owner like I am who does not have the time to flail around and try to ferret out what needs to happen in a system with so many potential variables as computers have. You need someone who can light your path on the straight and narrow and keep you from spending endless hours trying and trying and still falling short of getting things done! On time and on schedule, which is where I normally like to stay.
My highest recommendation. Business owners and regular people who consider their time invaluable and irreplaceable, we both need a Rodney around!

Rodney has "cured" my computer problems twice in the last 2 years. He is very knowledgeable, trustworthy and professional. Both times I got service ASAP. If you are interested in learning, he will share tips and advice. The cost is fair, and you'll get an estimate up front before the visit if asking. I have known Rodney for several months now, and over that time have asked him many questions around computers. He has always been Johnny on the spot with answers, and always ready to help.
Today he sat down at my computer and showed me advanced things that only the highly experienced know. In my business I would never have the opportunity to learn such things, so I would be flailing away, often times wondering if I were doing the right thing if I were to push that particular button...
Since doing the wrong thing could be devastating when you're talking about computers, I prefer to stay on the safe side. I feel I need to stay on the straight and narrow in this venue and do not take any chances with my precious, sometimes irreplaceable data.
With Rodney at the helm, I know my computer and all my data will remain safe. He not only does the right thing at all times, he is also very patient about explaining what could happen if you were to do the wrong thing. As kind of an experimenter whenever safe to be so, I need to hear stuff like that...
Cannot recommend anyone in computers more highly than Rodney Barnes. He has my vote!

Rodney is the best computer tech I have ever used! I have been self employed for 27 years and experienced many frustrating technical issues with computers. I have met quite a number of tech persons. My computer broke down and I called a couple places in ( one in Pleasanton and Dublin ) .both said to bring in my computer and they would be able to check it out probably the next day. I then called Rodney and he was at my house a few hours later and diagnosed the problem .Since my computer was so old ( over 8 years old ) he recommended I purchase a new one since it would be cheaper to buy a new one than fix my old one. I told him I know almost nothing about computers and Rodney actually volunteered to come with me the next day to help me pick out a new one--unbelievable and at no cost. The next day we went to three computer stores and with his help bought a new computer. Then we went back and he downloaded everything from my old computer to the new one. Talk about service---he is simply the best when it comes to computers and on top of that is a great guy just to talk to. I highly recommend him for all your computer needs---there is no one else better than Rodney. I don't think anyone else would of volunteered to help me pick out a computer- So in one day I had a new computer and it is working great-

Rodney saved my day. I had my home server go down with 95,000 photos on it. Rodney pronounced it dead but proceeded to show me how to save and transfer all my photos. A true lifesaver! The best thing I liked about Rodney was not only was he very knowledgeable but he will not hesitate to say "he doesn't know" and get on the phone and get the answers. He does not BS you.
I am a need to know person, and Rodney walked me thru and explained in detail everything he was doing. I felt like not only did I get my computers repaired but got a private computer lesson.
I trust Rodney with my computers and would recommend him to anyone from beginner to expert!

Rodney is just plain amazing! He has fixed my PC and my laptop and even showed me what to do in order to keep it running smoothly. Well, This past week I apparently forgot what he told me to do, and he came over and did it again and patiently taught me again how to keep my laptop running smoothly. This time I took notes. And he refused to charge me! This guy is the kind of guy you would want to refer to anyone you know including your grandma! Because you know that he will be honest with her and not take advantage of her. I have my new computer guy!

WOW! Thought I had recovered the lost phone number for a local computer repair person I had previously contacted. Turned out I was mistaken, thank heaven, because the "found" number actually belonged to Rodney instead. Rodney resuscitated, what the other guy had told me was a dead 4-year-old computer that needed to be thrown out.. Rodney quoted me a reasonable price to come out to my house and either make the repair or salvage my data from that and 2 other very dead towers. It turned out to be a much more grueling process than he had anticipated but he stuck to it for more than 6 hours...and still charged me only the quoted price!! I am writing this review using that very computer and it's faster than it's ever been. I can't believe that other guy would ask me to drop it at his shop, just to pull the data before junking it...for the same price. Thanks for my "new" computer, Rodney!!

Back in December my computer randomly crashed big time. I was able too tinker around a bit and it looked like my hard drive had completely died. Luckily I had a backup drive. I called Rodney to check my diagnosis and discuss options. I got his voicemail but he called me back later that day. This guy is awesome! Extremely knowledgeable, honest, and helpful. He confirmed my issue was probably the hard drive and talked about replacement options. Again, very helpful and friendly. Definitely my first choice for any future computer repair issues. And he lives just a few blocks away!!

Rodney just left after fixing my problems to a tee. I had him set up my system (with multiple screens) over two years ago and then have gotten myself in trouble a few times. He's great about giving brief telephone advice but I won't take advantage of him for free so if get's more involved I offer to pay him. I've had him come to do repair work for me when I still can't figure it out. He can fix my problems so much faster than I can so the cost is well worth it. It's so nice to have the frustrations end after he's worked on my system. He also checks for updates I may not be using and installs them. Today he saved me some cost by pointing out recently purchased programs that I don't need and am still in the 30 day free trial.

We are located in Dallas, TX so Rodney works on our computers via remote connection. It's great to have a reliable IT technician just a phone call away! He knows the ins and outs of Windows and is very efficient in diagnosing and fixing all sorts of problems. He also recommends software apps and good places to acquire them on the internet. With a small business like mine I cannot afford to have any slowdowns or freezes in my computers. Customers will just move on to another place. I had fought a home wireless network problem for weeks. I could not share our printer across multiple OS (Windows 95 and Windows 7), Rodney quickly got to the crux of the problem. He couldn't solve the issue in an elegant fashion, but... He provided a simple work-around that my wife and I are thrilled with. We are very happy with both the service and the outcome.

I highly recommend Rodney. Not only is Rodney the perfect man for the job, he is great company. In a short on time emergency, Rodney came to the job and was thorough, precise, and professional while still very friendly and relatable. The main user account on my laptop had become corrupted and locked me out from signing in. In that account I had all of my pictures, videos, resumes, college papers, and other personal information. I was referenced to Rodney by a close friend and trusted that he would get the job done. He successfully recovered every single one of my files, made a back-up copy of it, cleaned out my entire computer, downloaded new and helpful programs, and returned my laptop better than when it was new. In the few hours that he was at my home working on my laptop, he was great company to have. It was my first time meeting him, but he is so well rounded that we kept finding interesting things to talk about and soon after he felt more like a friend than a stranger =) He is a highly skilled professional with excellent moral character. How lucky I was to find Rodney! He took care of my first personal computer, cleaned up unneeded files, removed viruses, upgraded software, and got everything running smoothly. He has precise, fast mousing skills. He can accomplish in minutes what might take me hours of struggling. He can assess what is working well and what needs tuning up very quickly. If anyone knows computers inside and out, it is he. He knows how everything works, software and hardware, quickly locates the bugs and fixes them. He told me when it was time to upgrade to my second PC. It takes a lot of experience to develop that kind of judgment. If you need troubleshooting help he can help you. He is straightforward. I have been using PCs for 15 years and, except for installations of new ones, have never had a computer repairman come to my home to fix a problem. A couple weeks ago my CD burner was not working properly and I needed a professional. None of my friends could recommend anyone so I checked Yelp and found Rodney. Rodney was a pleasure to work with. He helped me minimize my costs by giving me tools and instructions to do much of work my self. He also reviewed the set up of my system. He pointed out important things that I needed to change. For example, my default back up files from Norton online were not backing up important files like QuickBooks!
